i took a personal day yesterday so tim and i could go to cedar point. this was after that kid got her feet chopped off on a ride last week, so needless to say, we opted out of the power tower this year. ;p we had a lot of fun. for some reason -- maybe b/c it was monday? or b/c we just plain lucked out -- the lines were awesome. we rode millenium force twice, top thrill dragster twice, and the magnum and raptor a few times each... and we still left at 7pm, 3 hours earlier than we normally do.

they're having a lot of problems w/ the new ride, maverick. we heard that it was actually shut down for a whole week before. boooo. the first time we waited in line we thought we'd hit the jackpot b/c we got in line just as it'd re-opened after some issue w/ it. unfortunately, we were about 10 minutes from actually getting our butts in the seat when they announced they once again had to shut down for 'mechanical difficulties.' that not sounding super reassuring, we left the line.

we later went back and waited half an hour, and this time we got to ride! it's like the raptor, except you're sitting in a train on the track instead of suspended from it... but it also has an acceleration like a mini top thrill dragster. it's a fun ride... now if only it would stop breaking down...

i love these pictures. they were taken from our deck in curacao at sunset. our balcony overlooked our hotel's private beach. can you imagine what it must be like to see this every day?

happy birthday to my dad! his birthday was actually friday, but tim and i were at graduation, so we took my parents out to dinner last night. we went to fiamma, which is one of my favorite places in downtown plymouth b/c you can go there for a nice evening out, or you can sit on the patio in casual clothes at midnight.

i had 2 of my favorites: sea bass and gnocchi. delicious! even my dad kept saying the food was good, and let me tell you, this man does not do that often. there's only a handful of restaurants he really appreciates. usually at nicer restaurants, when we're asked how the food tastes, we say very good or great or some derivation of the sort. but he usually stays quiet, b/c he thinks "it's ok," meaning it's acceptable but not really smthg to rave about. surprisingly, at fiamma when the waiter asked how the food was, he was the first one to pipe up. i was like, holy cow he must really like it. hahaha.

so yeah, if anyone finds himself in downtown plymouth for whatever reason, check out fiamma. you won't regret it.

when we were in curacao, we went to an ostrich farm, where we first toured the farm then enjoyed eating the meat. if you've never eaten ostrich, i recommend trying it at least once. our meal was so good that tim wanted to go back for lunch once more before leaving the island, but we ran out of time.

anyway, we took a bunch of pictures, but they accidentally got deleted from my computer. :( luckily we still have a handful left. here's an ostrich still in the process of hatching... and then a 1-day-old one. aren't they cuuuute???

here's a picture of me feeding some of the grown ones... followed by proof of the attack! yeah that's right: one of the ostriches bit me! he/she didn't break skin, but it DID hurt, and i was left w/ a beak-shaped bruise on my left arm.

they also offered an ostrich ride for an additional fee. they have 2 guys run in front of it, and then another one 'catches' it so you can get on. i was really really tempted, but tim wouldn't let me... smthg about how they're wild animals... they kick ppl when they get the chance... you have to sign a waiver for a reason... y'know, safety stuff. ;) i guess in the end, it's better we didn't ride one, b/c it would've sucked to have spent the rest of our honeymoon in a hospital!
